Why this toolkit exists

A no-login, no-upload, browser-based toolkit of 32 video production calculators — written by an independent creator who got tired of opening five browser tabs and a spreadsheet every time a question came up.

Who built it

FrameForge is maintained by a single independent creator-operator who publishes video essays and tutorials on the side. The site isn't run by a software company and there's no team behind it. Every tool, every word, and every CSS line was written by the same person. That has trade-offs: you won't see weekly releases, but you'll also never see a roadmap abandoned because a quarterly OKR moved.

If a calculation is wrong, the correction gets posted on the same page that hosts the calculator — not buried in a v2.0 changelog that nobody reads.

Who it's for

Independent creators, solo YouTubers, TikTok editors, podcast-to-video adapters, agency juniors who want a sanity-check before asking a senior, and small studios that don't have a finishing pipeline yet.

It's not built for: enterprise broadcast pipelines (those need certified tools like Vizrt or Grass Valley), colorists who need full node trees (use DaVinci Resolve or Baselight), or anyone who needs cloud render farms.

What it actually does

Each tool on the toolkit page does one of three things:

  1. Math — converts units, computes bitrate, computes crop math, generates color palettes. The numbers are the same numbers you'd get in Premiere or Resolve.
  2. Heuristics — combines multiple inputs into a single opinionated score (hook retention, pacing, watch-time curve). These are starting points, not verdicts.
  3. Visualization — draws safe-zone overlays, story arc curves, lighting diagrams, watch-time curves, color palettes. Things easier to see than to describe in words.

Every tool runs entirely in your browser via JavaScript. There is no upload, no processing server, and no account creation. If your input isn't sent anywhere, it can't be leaked — that's the privacy guarantee.

What it deliberately doesn't do

  • It does not host a video editor. Use Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut, or CapCut for that.
  • It does not store your input. Refresh the page and your numbers are gone — that's the point.
  • It does not rank your channel or scrape analytics. Connect YouTube Studio for that.
  • It does not give personalized advice for your niche, audience, or business model.
  • It does not replace professional judgment. If your editor or colorist disagrees with a tool here, trust them.

How the heuristics are calibrated

The math (aspect ratios, FPS conversion, Kelvin math, palette generation, LUFS gain) follows the public formulas used by commercial NLEs and broadcast standards (EBU R128, ITU-R BT.709, Rec. 2020). These are not proprietary.

The opinionated scores (hook retention, pacing, thumbnail CTR, length sweet spot) blend three sources: creator-economy creator insider docs, public channel-tier benchmarks, and patterns the operator observed across his own channel over four years. They are calibrated against an internal dataset of roughly 200 videos across tech, essay, and tutorial niches. They are not validated against a randomized controlled trial — that would require a budget the size of a small agency, which this site does not have.

If a future version of the data contradicts a current heuristic, the heuristic is updated and the change is noted on the relevant tool's "How to read this" panel.

About the ads

FrameForge displays ads served by Google AdSense. The ads appear in natural positions (sidebar, after content sections) and never disguised as buttons, download prompts, or fake UI. We don't run popups, interstitials, or auto-playing video ads.

If you see an ad that looks like a tool button or a "Download" CTA, it isn't one of ours — it came from the ad network and we share your annoyance. Use the AdSense "Why this ad?" link to report bad ads.

The full policy is on the Privacy page.

Spotted an issue?

If a tool returns a number that looks wrong, or the description doesn't match what you experienced in your own pipeline, that feedback is the most useful signal we get. We can't promise a personal reply to every message, but every correction submitted gets read.

No contact form on this page on purpose — keeping the page server-free means there's nothing to harvest. Use the contact method listed in the site's public web archive entry if you need a human reply.
